Cinema and Theatre


The Birks Cinema which is only a 5 minute stroll from Balnearn House and situated in the centre of Aberfeldy, ceased trading as a cinema is the 1980’s and instead became an amusement arcade. Thanks to a dedicated community group, the Birks Cinema is open once again.

With a complete renovation this iconic landmark is bringing an energy the excitement of a contemporary cinema to the very heart of Aberfeldy town.

The 101 seat cinema offers up-to-date movies, including 3D, it also offers live broadcast links for sport, opera and the like.  It also acts as a venue for live performances such as music, lectures and drama.  You can now go for a evening meal or a lunch as the restaurant is up and running.

Only 15 miles from Aberfeldy, Pitlochry Festival theatre caters for a wide and appreciative audience who keep on returning due to the high quality productions they offer.  Known as the ‘Theatre in the Hills’ it is set on the banks of the River Tummel and is surrounded by magnificent countryside.
